What to Order on Your First Visit
So you have finally made it to Krumb. Welcome. Whether you have walked up from the Lagan or hopped off the bus on the Ormeau Road, you are in the right place. We know first visits can feel a little overwhelming when everything looks this good. So here is your unofficial guide to what to order on your first visit to the best little bakery Ormeau Road has to offer.

Start With a Croissant: The Bakery Ormeau Road Classic
If you do one thing on your first visit, make it the croissant. Ours are hand-laminated from scratch every morning, fold by fold, with proper butter and a technique that takes years to get right. They come out of the oven golden, glossy and shattering, with a honeycomb interior that pulls apart beautifully.
This is the thing that tells you most about what we are and what we care about. A croissant done properly is a genuine feat of baking. Ours is the benchmark we hold everything else to. If you are visiting the bakery Ormeau Road neighbourhood to find out what artisan baking actually means, start here.
Pair it with a flat white from Lucid Coffee Roasters and you have the perfect Krumb morning. That combination alone is worth the trip.
Something a Bit More Substantial
If you are after something savoury and satisfying, our seasonal pastries and filled bakes are where the best bakes Belfast has to offer get a bit more indulgent. We use Stonebridge Farm pork and bacon in our savoury specials, along with Ballylisk and Hegarty's cheese, both exceptional Northern Irish producers.
Our savoury menu changes with the seasons and with what is good right now, so you might find a cheese and onion pastry, a sausage roll worth writing home about, or something more unexpected depending on the day. Ask at the counter what is freshest. We always have a recommendation.
The Sweet Spot: Cakes, Tarts and Seasonal Treats
The display case at Krumb is designed to make decisions difficult. That is intentional. Our seasonal cakes and tarts are made from scratch using the best ingredients we can find, and they change regularly to reflect what is at its best right now. A glossy fruit tart in summer. A warming spiced cake in autumn. Something rich and indulgent in the depths of winter.
These are the treats that keep our regulars coming back. The best bakes Belfast visitors tend to remember from Krumb are often the seasonal specials: the ones you could only get that week, that season. If something catches your eye in the case, get it. The FOMO is real and entirely justified.
First-timers often ask us to just pick something for them. We are happy to do that. Tell us what you like and we will point you straight to it. That is what being a wee neighbourhood bakery is all about.
Our cinnamon bun is a firm favourite with regulars, as is our lemon meringue. If either is on the day's menu, do not walk past it.
What to Drink
Our coffee is from Lucid Coffee Roasters and it is excellent. We also have Good and Proper Tea for the tea drinkers among you, which is a proper tea programme rather than an afterthought. And if you are after something cold and interesting, Living Things sodas are unlike anything from a supermarket shelf: beautifully made, real flavour, the kind of thing that tastes even better alongside a Krumb bake.
A Few Tips for Your First Visit
- Come early. We open at 9am Wednesday to Sunday and our most popular bakes can sell out before noon. The early visitors get the best of the fresh-from-the-oven selection.
- Use click and collect. If you have your heart set on something specific from the bakery Ormeau Road, order in advance via click and collect. It guarantees your order and means you can pop in and go.
- Ask us anything. We love talking about what we bake, where our ingredients come from and what is particularly good that day. No question is too small.
- Come back. The menu changes with the seasons. Every visit is a little different. That is the whole point.
