A Morning in Our Ormeau Road Cafe
There are mornings when you need a bit of help getting started. When that happens on the Ormeau Road, you know exactly where to go. The cafe at Krumb Bakery, 258 Ormeau Road, is the kind of place that makes a weekday morning feel like a treat and a weekend morning feel properly special.

A Morning at the Cafe on the Ormeau Road
Come through the door any Wednesday to Sunday from 9am and the smell hits you first. Warm pastry, fresh coffee, something sweet and buttery that you cannot quite identify yet but absolutely want. The cabinet is full of whatever has come out of the oven that morning, and the coffee machine is already busy.
Krumb is small and warm and genuinely welcoming. It is the kind of cafe where you feel comfortable pulling up a chair and staying a while. Nobody rushes you. The Ormeau Road rolls by outside, and inside it is just you, a good coffee and whatever you decided to order. That is a very fine way to spend a morning.
The Coffee
We use beans from Lucid Coffee Roasters, one of Northern Ireland's finest. The espresso is well-pulled and the milk is properly steamed. Whether you want a flat white, latte, cortado, cappuccino or americano, it will be made with care. If espresso is not your thing, we have matcha, hot chocolate and iced coffee too.
We also make our own syrups in house: vanilla, caramel and brown sugar, bottled and available to take home if you want a little bit of Krumb in your morning routine. A small but lovely touch.
What to Order With Your Coffee
The honest answer is: whatever catches your eye in the cabinet. But if you want a guide, here is where we would start.
- Croissant. Laminated by hand, properly golden and flaky. Eat it plain or ask if there is a filled option that day.
- BLT on homemade focaccia. The bacon is from Stonebridge Farm (rare-breed and genuinely delicious), the focaccia is made fresh in house. It is a sandwich that earns its reputation.
- Gratin Danish with smoked Hegarty's cheddar. Savoury, rich, the kind of thing that makes you feel like everything is going to be fine.
- Lemon meringue tart. Sharp curd, crisp pastry, glossy toasted meringue. With a flat white, it is a genuinely brilliant combination.
- Pastel de nata. Crispy pastry shell, silky custard, a dusting of cinnamon. A classic for good reason.
There is also a vegetarian savoury pie if you want something more substantial, plus sausage rolls, scones, salted caramel brownies and whatever seasonal specials we are running. The cabinet changes, and that is part of the charm.
The Welcome
Krumb was built to be a community bakery. A place where the Ormeau Road could come in and feel at home, find something delicious, and leave feeling a bit better about the day. We take that seriously.
We champion local producers throughout: Stonebridge Farm, Ballylisk and Hegarty's cheese, Lucid coffee, Honest Toil olive oil, Living Things sodas, Good and Proper tea. When you sit down with a coffee and a pastry at Krumb, you are supporting a small web of brilliant Northern Irish businesses. That feels good, honestly.
